In a decisive move to reinforce peace and stability, Hon. Hunpe convened a high-level security and peace meeting with key stakeholders to review prevailing security conditions and align response strategies with emerging realities.

The meeting, presided over by the Chairman, brought together the Chief Security Adviser, CSP Adagba Johnson (Rtd.), heads of military and paramilitary agencies, traditional rulers, and youth representatives.

Deliberations focused on strengthening inter-agency coordination and enhancing community-based responses to critical issues such as:

  • Cultism

  • Human trafficking

  • Drug abuse

  • Other emerging security threats

Hon. Hunpe emphasized that sustained engagement, intelligence sharing, and proactive community participation remain central to safeguarding lives and property. He reiterated that security is a shared responsibility requiring continuous collaboration between government, security agencies, traditional institutions, and community stakeholders.

The Chairman charged all participants to maintain vigilance, deepen synergy, and reinforce preventive measures to preserve the peace for which Badagry is widely known.

In furtherance of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots, the Executive Chairman hosted the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, on a familiarisation visit to the council.

The strategic engagement provided a platform to deepen collaboration between LASHMA and Badagry Local Government, particularly in expanding access to the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme (Ilera Eko).

Discussions centered on:

  • Increasing health insurance enrollment among residents

  • Improving awareness and community sensitisation

  • Strengthening sustainability of the scheme at the grassroots level

  • Enhancing partnerships with primary healthcare facilities

Hon. Hunpe reaffirmed his administrationโ€™s commitment to ensuring that residents – especially vulnerable populationsโ€”have access to affordable and quality healthcare services. He noted that health insurance remains a critical pillar in reducing out-of-pocket medical expenses and promoting preventive care.

The visit further strengthened institutional ties between the state agency and the local government, paving the way for improved health outcomes across Badagry.

Similarly, Hon. Hunpe received the Comptroller of the National Population Commission (NPC), Badagry, Mrs. Ejiofor Josephine, during a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration in demographic data management and civil registration processes.

The engagement focused on improving cooperation in:

  • Population data collection

  • Birth and death registration

  • Civil documentation processes

  • Data accuracy for policy planning

The Chairman emphasized that accurate and up-to-date demographic data is essential for effective planning, evidence-based policymaking, and efficient allocation of resources. He noted that reliable population statistics support improved infrastructure development, healthcare planning, educational expansion, and social service delivery.

Both parties expressed commitment to leveraging data-driven governance as a tool for enhancing transparency, accountability, and strategic development within the local government.

Strengthening Institutions for Sustainable Development

Through proactive security coordination, healthcare collaboration, and strengthened data partnerships, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe continues to position Badagry Local Government as a model of integrated and responsive governance.

The Chairman reiterated that sustainable development is built on three key foundations:
Security for stability, healthcare for well-being, and accurate data for informed decision-making.

Under his leadership, Badagry Local Government remains steadfast in fostering institutional synergy, protecting communities, improving public health access, and deploying data to drive inclusive and sustainable growth for all residents.
