In his capacity as Chief Mourner, Hon. Hunpe received several prominent delegations who paid condolence visits to the palace of the Akran of Badagry following the passing of the revered monarch.

Among the dignitaries were the Chairperson of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Lagos State Chapter, Comr. Agnes Funmi Sessi and her entourage; Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adeniran (Jandor); and members of the Arewa Community in Lagos State, who visited separately to express their solidarity with the royal family and the people of Badagry.

Welcoming the delegations on behalf of the royal family and the entire Badagry community, Hon. Hunpe expressed deep appreciation for their show of respect and unity during this period of mourning. He noted that the outpouring of support from diverse groups and leaders across Lagos State underscores the far-reaching influence and enduring legacy of the late monarch.

The visiting dignitaries, in their separate remarks, conveyed heartfelt condolences, offering prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed royal father and strength for the family and community to bear the loss.

Demonstrating his administrationโ€™s dedication to bottom-up governance, Hon. Hunpe attended a meeting of the Igborosun Community Development Committee (CDC), comprising 26 Community Development Associations (CDAs), held within the community.

The engagement provided a platform for constructive dialogue on pressing grassroots development priorities. Key issues discussed included the grading of community access roads, drainage interventions to curb flooding, repairs of existing transformers, and the provision of additional transformers to enhance power supply across the area.

Hon. Hunpe emphasized that sustainable development is best achieved through strong collaboration between government and community stakeholders. He reiterated that community-driven feedback remains vital in shaping responsive policies and targeted interventions.

The Chairman assured residents that their concerns would receive due attention, noting that inclusive engagement fosters transparency, accountability, and faster implementation of development projects.

In another significant engagement, the Executive Chairman joined the people of Agamathen in celebrating the Aholu of Agamathen, HRM Aholu Agano Toniyon I, who marked eight years on the throne.

The occasion was highlighted by the launch of Phase II of the mechanised vulcaniser car-lift section of the Agano Tyre Care Centre, an initiative designed to enhance technical services, promote skills acquisition, and stimulate local enterprise within the community.

Hon. Hunpe commended the monarch for championing initiatives that empower youths and strengthen economic self-reliance. He described the project as a forward-thinking investment in vocational development and community-based entrepreneurship.

In a strategic move to further institutionalise skills development, the Chairman announced that mechanised vulcanising training would be integrated into the Councilโ€™s Skill Acquisition Centre curriculum from the next session. He noted that expanding the range of technical and vocational training opportunities will equip young people with practical skills, create employment pathways, and reduce dependency.
