The Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, fMHR, on Wednesday officially commenced activities marking the first anniversary of his administration with a Special Interdenominational Prayer Session and the presentation of official vehicles to Councillors at the Council Secretariat, Ajara, Badagry.

In his address, Hon. Hunpe described the occasion as a moment of gratitude to Almighty God for His faithfulness, guidance and protection over the past year, noting that the milestone offered an opportunity to reflect on the administration’s journey of service, accountability and purposeful leadership.
The Chairman stated that since assuming office, his administration has remained focused on responsive governance, inclusive development and the delivery of people-oriented programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents across the local government.
Speaking on the presentation of vehicles to Councillors, Hon. Hunpe said the gesture was aimed at strengthening grassroots governance and enhancing effective service delivery. He noted that the vehicles were not symbols of privilege but tools to enable Councillors to engage more closely with their constituents, monitor projects, respond promptly to community needs and effectively discharge their legislative and oversight responsibilities.
The Chairman also expressed appreciation to religious leaders for their prayers and spiritual support, while thanking Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, party leaders, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, management and staff of the council, and residents for their support and cooperation over the past year.
Speaking earlier while delivering the opening remarks, the Vice Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, highlighted key programmes, projects and achievements of the Hunpe-led administration over the past year, describing the period as one marked by purposeful leadership and impactful grassroots governance under the Greater Badagry Rising Agenda.
The Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Bankole Mautin Asokere, delivered the closing remarks expressing profound appreciation to the Council Chairman for bringing his wealth of legislative and administrative experience to bear in fostering a cordial working relationship with the Legislative Arm. He also conveyed his gratitude to stakeholders for their support, cooperation and contributions to the progress recorded over the past year. He reaffirmed the Legislature’s commitment to sustaining its partnership with the Executive Arm in advancing the Greater Badagry Rising Agenda.
Highlights of the event included special prayers offered by Christian, Islamic and traditional clerics, who interceded for God’s blessings, guidance, protection and wisdom upon the Executive Chairman, the administration and the people of Badagry, while praying for sustained peace, unity, progress and prosperity across the local government.
The event also featured goodwill messages from the APC Chairman, Badagry Local Government, Hon. Gafar Muritala Meyon; Mrs. Arinola Ajose; Alhaja Kikelomo Ladipo; Apex Leader, Chief Moses Zannu Ogunbiyi; and the Aholu of Ajido Kingdom, HRM Aholu Saheed Sedonu Adamson, who commended the administration’s performance and urged the Chairman to remain steadfast in his commitment to the development of Badagry.
The event was attended by members of the Executive and Legislative Arms, council management and staff, APC leaders and faithful, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community stakeholders, well-wishers and residents from across Badagry Local Government.
