The statutory annual budget retreat that will shape the trajectory of Badagry local government fiscal projections in year 2025 kick started yesterday. The budget retreat of the year 2025 tagged ‘Budget Of Transitional Economy’ provides insights into the council’s spending priorities as well as evaluation of outgoing year 2024 budget performance report and harmonization of budgetary figures of all departments and units of the local government.
To set the ball rolling, the indefatigable executive chairman of Badagry local government, Hon. Onilude Olusegun Adeniran welcomed all participants to this year’s retreat.
The council boss reminiscing on the the trajectory of his administration over the course of the past 7 years said ‘I welcome you all to the final lap of this administration. While I give thanks to God for keeping us alive to fulfil our designed expectations, I equally commend the effort of the committed EXCOs and management team for the achievements we have recorded so far.”
Speaking further, Hon. Onilude charged participants to devote rapt attention to proceedings “What we are here to do is a statutory process where we provide achievable templates for us to deliver on our mandate to the people of Badagry local government.“
The Council Manager, Mrs. Olusanya Mary Abosede while welcoming participants to the retreat also commended the entire executives and management team for their painstaking commitment to vision and mission of the Onilude-led administration. Mrs Olusanya stated that the focal point of the retreat is to assess the performance of the outgoing year 2024 budget and also provide financial blueprint or fiscal plan for year 2025.
The HOD budget, Mrs Biliaminu Hannah Alaba said that through the presentations, discussions and engagements that the participants will have at the retreat, she is certain it will serve as an impetus for participants to reaffirm their commitment to the actualisation of the year 2025 agenda of the Onilude-led administration.
The first session of the days proceedings began with the first lecture of the day tagged ‘Impact of Procurement Plan On The Local Government Administration And The Role Of Accounting Officers’. The facilitator, Mr. Ambali Taofiki Oluwakemi, a seasoned civil servants who dexterously engaged participants on the nitty-gritty of Procurement Planning.
The second facilitator, Mr. Bankole Hakeem dwelled on the Topic ‘Goods, Works And Constant Service’ while the third facilitator, Mr. Osunporu Samuel also engaged participants in an educative session on the topic ‘Cost Analysis On Goods, Works And Consultancy Services”
The second session of the day was also an interactive and enlightening session as the fourth facilitator, Mr. Adekoya Adesanya another seasoned public administrator engaged participants on the topic “Effective Internally Generated Revenues: A tool for grassroots Infrastructural Development”
The last session of the day’s proceedings was anchored by the Council Treasurer, Mr. Olugbenga Hunponu. Participants engaged in robust engagements, valuable contributions and evaluation of the outgoing fiscal year revenue generation and budget performance report.
