Hunpe Inspects Pota, Ikoga, Iragon Health Centres, Takes Over Newly Built Facility at Thogli

The Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery at the grassroots. This assurance came as he embarked on a comprehensive inspection of primary health facilities across the council area.

Hon. Hunpe’s tour commenced at the Pota Primary Health Centre, where extensive reconstruction work is currently underway. Once completed, the project is expected to transform the facility into a modern healthcare hub capable of meeting the growing needs of residents. Addressing the community during the visit, the Chairman explained that the reconstruction represents deliberate steps by his administration to ensure that every community has access to functional and dignified health services.

The inspection team proceeded to the Primary Health Centres in Ikoga and Iragon, where Hon. Hunpe assessed ongoing operations and engaged with staff and community members. He carefully listened to their feedback on the challenges facing the facilities and assured them that health interventions will remain a top priority, describing healthcare as a cornerstone of sustainable development in Badagry.

The highlight of the exercise was the official takeover of the newly built Primary Health Centre at Thogli. Declaring the facility open for use, Hon. Hunpe described the centre as “a testament to what is possible when government and stakeholders work hand in hand to serve the people.” He emphasized that the new facility would not only reduce the pressure on surrounding health centres but also bring quality healthcare closer to rural communities.

Accompanying the Chairman on the inspection were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Akeem Adeyemi; Chief of Staff, Mr. Taiwo Towolawi; Council Manager, Mrs. Abosede Mary Olusanya; and the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Wale Akeredolu.
