The Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development has commended the Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, for the remarkable developmental strides recorded by his administration within one year in office.

The commendation came during an oversight visit to the Local Government led by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Okanlawon, as part of the Assembly’s constitutional responsibility to assess governance, evaluate projects and review the utilisation of public funds at the grassroots level.
The committee was received by the Executive Chairman alongside the Vice Chairman, Hon. Akeem Adeyemi; the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Bankole Mautin Asokere, and other members of the Legislature; the Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Benjamin Adagba; the Council Manager, Mrs. Avoseh-Akwe Senami Oluwakemi; Supervisors, Special Advisers and members of the Management Team.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Okanlawon lauded the administration’s performance across critical sectors, describing the achievements recorded under the Greater Badagry Rising Agenda as evidence of purposeful leadership, prudent resource management and commitment to grassroots development. He expressed satisfaction with the level of progress witnessed and encouraged the administration to sustain its developmental momentum.
Other members of the committee equally commended the council’s people-oriented initiatives and visible infrastructural interventions, noting that the projects and programmes undertaken have positively impacted the lives of residents across the Local Government.
In his remarks, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe appreciated the committee for the visit and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering sustainable development and improved service delivery. He highlighted key achievements and ongoing interventions across education, healthcare, road infrastructure, environmental sustainability, social welfare, tourism development, youth empowerment and economic growth.
The Chairman attributed the successes recorded by the administration to the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the continued cooperation of the people of Badagry. He noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, particularly its reforms aimed at strengthening the economy, expanding infrastructure, promoting social investment and deepening grassroots development, alongside Governor Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ Agenda, have continued to provide an enabling framework for impactful governance and sustainable development at the local level.
The exercise highlighted the importance of legislative oversight in promoting prudent resource management, institutional accountability and the delivery of meaningful development to residents at the grassroots.
