The Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, fMHR, has unveiled the Badagry Transport Services with an initial fleet of 10 buses acquired by the Council to ease intra-community transportation and improve the movement of residents.

Speaking at the unveiling, Hunpe said the buses would operate exclusively on community routes, particularly to support commuters who may face transportation challenges as a result of the Governmentโs restriction on motorcycle operations between 10:00 p.m and 5:00am
He explained that the buses would operate within designated hours and routes to provide an alternative means of transportation for residents moving between communities, adding that the initiative was designed to respond to the everyday transportation needs of the people.
The Chairman disclosed that a dedicated Transport Committee, chaired by Mr. Olusegun Amosu, would oversee the operation, maintenance and sustainability of the buses to ensure that the fleet remains functional and continues to serve its intended purpose.
Hunpe also called on stakeholders, residents and well-meaning individuals to support the initiative through donations and other means of contributing to the initiative stressing that broader support would help sustain and expand the transport service.
Adding to the initiative, Mr. Samuel Mauyon Ajose (SMA) through his foundation pledged to donate an additional 10 buses to complement the 10 buses acquired by the Local Government.
In his remarks, the Transport Committee Chairman, Mr. Olusegun Amosu described the initiative as a community-focused intervention that requires responsible management and collective support to achieve its intended objectives. He assured residents that the committee would work to ensure that the buses are properly managed and maintained for sustained service delivery.
He also called for the cooperation of residents and other stakeholders stressing that the success of the transport initiative would depend not only on the availability of the buses but also on responsible use and collective ownership.
