The Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, on Thursday hosted the periodic meeting of the Lagos West II Council Chairmen Forum, during which members received the All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy Governorship Candidate, Hon. (Princess) Damilola Sonayon James, for a strategic engagement focused on strengthening party unity, enhancing grassroots mobilisation and consolidating support for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The forum, chaired by the Executive Chairman of Iba Local Council Development Area, Hon. Yisa Abiola Jubril, was attended by the Secretary of the forum, Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe (Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government), Hon. Babatunde Hunpe (Badagry Local Government), Hon. (Princess) Muhibat Titilola Rufai-Adeyemi (Ojo Local Government), Hon. Prince Lanre Sanusi (Amuwo-Odofin Local Government), Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon (Olorunda LCDA), Hon. Rauf Ibrahim Yemaren (Badagry West LCDA), Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun (Otto-Awori LCDA), Hon. Rasaq Akorede Olojede (Oriade LCDA), and Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo (Ifelodun LCDA).
The forum lauded the visionary leadership, courage and tenacity of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, noting that the Renewed Hope Agenda has laid the foundation for far-reaching reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and prosperity. The council chairmen assured that they would intensify grassroots mobilisation across their respective councils to secure overwhelming victories for all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections, particularly Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu the Lagos State gubernatorial ticket of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and Hon. (Princess) Damilola Sonayon James, as well as every other candidate flying the party’s flag.
In her remarks, Hon. (Princess) Damilola Sonayon James commended the chairmen for their unflinching dedication to grassroots development and party unity noting that the strength of the APC lies in the commitment of its leaders at the local level. She called for sustained collaboration, unity of purpose and continuous engagement with stakeholders and citizens to further deepen public confidence in the party.
Speaking earlier while welcoming the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate and his colleagues, Hon. Hunpe described the gathering as a reflection of the party’s enduring culture of consultation, unity and collective leadership.
“As leaders entrusted with governance at the grassroots, we recognize that our greatest strength lies in our unity and our shared commitment to the people. This engagement reinforces our resolve to continue working together in advancing the developmental vision of our party while ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every community,” Hon. Hunpe said.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening the party’s grassroots structures, promoting inclusive governance and sustaining the collaborative efforts necessary to secure continued progress and electoral success for the APC in Lagos State.
