The Office of the Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government hereby notifies the general public that an Executive Order has been issued by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, fMHR, restricting the placement of flex banners, posters, billboards, and other similar advertising materials within and around the Badagry International Roundabout.

This directive forms part of the administration’s broader urban renewal, environmental management, and traffic improvement strategy aimed at transforming the Badagry International Roundabout into a safer, cleaner, and more organized public space befitting its status as one of the busiest gateway corridors into Lagos State.

Over the years, the indiscriminate erection of banners and promotional materials around the roundabout has created visual clutter, obstructed traffic signs, reduced motorists’ visibility, and diminished the aesthetic appeal of this strategic location. Recognising these challenges, the Babatunde Hunpe-led administration has commenced a comprehensive reorganisation of the roundabout as part of its commitment to improving public infrastructure, road safety, and environmental sustainability.

The Executive Order is therefore designed to:

  • Improve visibility for motorists and pedestrians.
  • Prevent the obstruction of traffic signs and directional indicators.
  • Enhance road safety and reduce avoidable accidents.
  • Preserve the beauty and structural integrity of the Badagry International Roundabout.
  • Promote environmental cleanliness and orderly urban development.
  • Ensure proper regulation of outdoor advertising within public spaces.

As part of the ongoing redevelopment efforts, the Local Government has already initiated significant interventions around the roundabout, including traffic reorganisation, environmental sanitation measures, designated commercial areas, and infrastructure improvements intended to enhance the overall functionality and appearance of the corridor.

Consequently, all individuals, political groups, religious organisations, corporate bodies, event planners, advertisers, and other stakeholders are advised to refrain from erecting banners, posters, flex materials, or any form of outdoor promotional signage within the roundabout axis without obtaining prior approval from the appropriate authority of the Local Government.

The Council wishes to make it clear that enforcement teams have been mandated to remove all unauthorised materials found within the restricted area. Individuals or organisations found violating this Executive Order may also be subject to appropriate sanctions in accordance with existing environmental and regulatory guidelines.

The administration believes that maintaining a clean, orderly, and visually appealing environment is a shared responsibility. It therefore calls on residents, community leaders, transport operators, business owners, political organisations, and all stakeholders to support this initiative by complying fully with the new directive.

The Executive Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, reaffirmed that the ongoing transformation of the Badagry International Roundabout represents only one aspect of his administration’s broader vision to modernise public infrastructure, improve urban planning, strengthen environmental management, and create a more secure and attractive Badagry for residents, investors, and visitors alike.

Badagry Local Government appreciates the understanding, cooperation, and continued support of the good people of Badagry as the Council works diligently to build a cleaner, safer, more organised, and more prosperous community.

Signed
